Industry Information
HRUHCA distributes important local, state, and federal information via social media (facebook, twitter, etc.), emails, newsletters, and faxes. HRUHCA keeps its members updated on what’s going on at the Virginia General Assembly through regular reports that are distributed to the membership during the session “via” the same information conduits.
Industry Legislative Representation
HRUHCA participates in a legislative council of heavy construction associations across the Commonwealth that lobby the Virginia General Assembly on important industry issues. The association works with a full‐time legislative representative to monitor important industry issues in the Virginia General Assembly.
Miss Utility
HRUHCA participates as an industry partner in the Miss Utility “Call Before You Dig” system in Virginia. HRUHCA has a member on the Virginia State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) “Miss Utility Advisory Committee”, a committee selected by the SCC to investigate underground utility line damages and determine fines associated with these damages.
Regional Construction Standards
HRUHCA was a founding organization in the establishment of a cooperative effort by municipalities to develop and approve a set of regional construction specifications and standards that are used by over thirteen local municipalities to construct projects in our area. HRUHCA is the only non‐municipal concern that has a vote on the current regional standards committee. HRUHCA sits on the board that reviews all changes to the regional construction standards.
