I am 58 Years Old.
I have been in the Tidewater area for over Fifty years. I am divorced, but have three incredible children: Trae, 31, Ricky, 29 and Kandis, 21. I have one beautiful grand-daughter, and another one on the way in February 2018.
I have been serving the Tidewater area over 23 years in the Health Insurance Field. I have mostly worked alongside AFLAC and ALLSTATE. It’s been a fun ride so far, I cannot say enough about these two great companies.
I still live in the Tidewater area.
Hobbies: Teaching basketball, golf, and my new love is cornhole.
Charities: Work with The Va. Beach Fallen Heroes.
Robert (Bobby) Gardner
After graduating from Granby High School in Norfolk, Va. in 1961 I went to work for the Virginia Pilot Assn. as a Seaman on the pilot boat "Virginia." I was employed there until the summer of 1963 which included the 3 day period of the "Ash Wednesday Storm". Most of you who read this will have to "Google" that, because you will not remember it or you were not even living at the time. But any knowledgeable "boat person" will tell you it was not a good time for a boat ride. But it wasn't all bad.. it made me change my employment and become a "land lubber" again.
So, in August of 1963, I went to work for VEPCO and for the 31 plus years I was there, my employer changed from VEPCO, to Virginia Power, to Dominion Power, without me ever lifting a finger or filing out another application... amazing! And now as I write this, 23 years after my retirement in 1994, the name on my retirement checks now reads Dominion Energy.
So, after a year off, I was hired by Chesapeake Public Schools in the transportation department as a school bus driver. I drove as substitute for a couple of years doing different runs in the Hickory and Great Bridge areas of the city. I was then given a regular run which I drove for the next 14 years. The School system offered a retirement package in the spring of 2011, and I retired July 1st of that year.
So now I begin my fourth and final job (hopefully) with HRUHCA!
